About

Maryze is a queer Canadian and French artist based between Montreal and Los Angeles. Her stormy-sweet alt pop conjures a haunting universe, blending electronic beats with fiery and introspective bilingual lyrics. Maryze released her anticipated debut album 8 on Hot Tramp Records in 2022, embarked on a North American tour, and ranked on Spotify’s Viral 50 Canada chart. 8 weaves together themes of sexuality, identity, and family ruptures, and experiments with influences from emo and hyperpop to Celtic folk from the singer’s Irish/Breton roots. The album received critical acclaim from Under the RadarConsequence of SoundExclaim!CBC/Radio-Canada, and Wonderland Magazine. In 2024, Maryze will release a series of singles following her viral French success “Langue”, finish writing and recording her sophomore EP in LA, tour Australia and New Zealand with pop phenomenon Alex Cameron, and appear on Grammy-award winner Alessia Cara’s upcoming album.

“There's always a huge comfort to Maryze's music, a quality that makes you feel like she's singing directly to you. Her music is delicate yet strong, soft yet bold, everything you want but also everything you didn't know you needed."
-Earmilk

"Maryze shows off an incredible range as a songwriter and performer, calling to mind other genre-blurring pop stars like Rina Sawayama."
-Under The Radar Mag
